Lead Yourself First
Leadership is easy to talk about when it concerns someone else.
We can see where another man needs more discipline, patience, honesty, or consistency. But the hardest person we will ever be called to lead is the man in the mirror.
Before we lead a family, a team, a business, or a brother, we must learn to govern ourselves.
That means controlling our words when anger rises.
Keeping our commitments when motivation fades.
Owning our mistakes without excuses.
Choosing what is right even when no one would know the difference.
Brother, self-control is not weakness. It is strength under command.
You will not always control what happens around you, but with God’s help, you can control how you respond. Every time you pause before reacting, keep a promise, or reject an old habit, another part of your character is being forged.
Do not wait for a larger opportunity to prove you can lead.
Lead yourself well in the next decision.

Father, help me lead myself before I try to lead others. Give me patience, self-control, and the humility to admit where I need to grow. Shape my private decisions so that my public leadership reflects integrity. Amen.
