Day in the Forge #11

Be Present Where God Has Placed You

August 1, 2026 · Ephesians 5:15–16 · Daily Devotional for Men
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity." — Ephesians 5:15–16

A man can be physically present and still be somewhere else.

His body is at the table, but his mind is at work.

His children are talking, but he is looking at his phone.

His wife needs his attention, but he is already thinking about tomorrow.

Brother, leadership does not begin in public. It begins with how you show up for the people closest to you.

Providing matters. Working hard matters. Building a future matters. But the people you love should not have to compete with every notification, unfinished task, and problem that follows you home.

You will not always have unlimited time, but you can give undivided attention.

Put down the phone. Look them in the eyes. Ask the question. Listen to the full answer. Pray with your family. Let the people in your home experience more than what your work provides. Let them experience you.

Presence is not passive.

It is a discipline.

Reflection

Who has been receiving your physical presence but not your full attention?

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the moments I have been distracted, impatient, or emotionally absent. Teach me to lead with attention, love, and humility. Help me recognize the people and moments You have placed in front of me today. Amen.

Today's Challenge

Set aside at least thirty minutes today with someone you love. Put your phone away, remove the distractions, and give them your full attention.

Stay in the Fight. ⚒️

Keep walking through the fire

Forged by Fire is a book about the cost of isolation and the power of brotherhood. If this hit something, the book goes further.
