Repair It Quickly
Pride can make distance feel justified.
We replay what was said. We build our case. We wait for the other person to make the first move because we are convinced they were more wrong than we were.
Meanwhile, the relationship gets colder.
Strong men do not avoid hard conversations forever. They learn to repair what they can.
That does not mean accepting blame that is not yours. It does not mean every relationship can or should return to what it was. But when you know there is something you need to own, an apology you need to make, or a conversation you have been avoiding, obedience usually begins before the other person changes.
Leadership is not proving you were right.
Sometimes leadership is being the first man willing to say, “I could have handled that better.”
God can do a lot with two humble people. Be willing to be the first one.
Is there a relationship in my life where pride is keeping me from taking the first step toward peace?
God, show me where pride has kept me distant from someone I need to make things right with. Give me humility to own what is mine, wisdom to speak with grace, and courage to take the first step without demanding anything in return. Amen.
Think of one unresolved relationship. If there is something you genuinely need to own, make the call or send the message today. Do not defend yourself. Start with your part.
Keep walking through the fire
Forged by Fire is a book about the cost of isolation and the power of brotherhood. If this hit something, the book goes further.
