The Difference Between Loneliness and Isolation
Loneliness is a feeling. Isolation is a pattern. One visits you. The other, if you let it, becomes how you live.
You can be surrounded by people — coworkers, family, even a full church on Sunday — and still be functionally isolated, because nobody actually knows what's going on underneath the surface.
Isolation isn't about how many people are around you. It's about how many of them you've let in.
Breaking the pattern doesn't require a dramatic gesture. It usually starts with one honest sentence to one man you trust. Everything else builds from there.
Keep walking through the fire
Forged by Fire is a book about the cost of isolation and the power of brotherhood. If this hit something, the book goes further.
